CdLS Blog Challenge-Home Modifications/Childproofing

We call it “Andrew-proofing”.  I don’t think there is enough space here to list all of the modifications we’ve made to our home so far.  I believe this is something I’ve touched on in a previous post, but I’ll go for it again.

  • 5 gates throughout the house (used to be 7 so we’re making progress)
  • every kitchen drawer and cabinet has safety locks
  • his bedroom door has been removed and replaced by a gate
  • pictures are screwed into the wall or walls are left bare
  • new deck…replaced wood with trex to prevent splinters which his feet and legs were riddled with all summer
  • electrical outlets moved up high in his bedroom and shelves put in to hold his dvd player and other electrical entertainment
  • counter tops and tables left bare (swiping)
  • NO lamps
  • bathrooms and office doors always kept locked
  • furniture at old angles to guard outlets
  • artificial plants (don’t like dirt thrown around the house or eaten. Yuk!)
  • locks on toilets

Okay, I’m done.  There’s more, but it sneaks up on you little by little and before you know it it’s just “normal”.  So I don’t notice them all anymore.  They keep us on our toes though and we need to be very adaptable to keep up.  It’s a good thing they’re so cute!
